About the VSSAA > VSSAA Alumni Dinner

The Vancouver Secondary Schools’ Athletic Association was organized in 1969. It is based on policies which have been carefully developed and changed over an extensive time period dating back to membership in the Vancouver and District leagues and championships. The V.S.S.A.A. views high school athletics as an educational enterprise and recommends that programs continue to be based upon the following objectives:

to encourage participation in organized sports activity by as many students as possible
to maintain a high quality of sportsmanship among player and coach participants
to emphasize the value that participation in athletic endeavours plays in the development of lifetime physical fitness attitudes
to plan, supervise and administer the inter-school athletic activities of the Vancouver Secondary Schools
to develop and apply rules and regulations governing the programs of the participants in the association to enable the association to maintain the equality of competition
to operate without purpose of gain or profit to its members and any profits or other accretions to the society shall be used in promoting its objects and this provision shall be unalterable
to provide opportunity for athletic excellence

The success of the V.S.S.A.A. program is due to the efforts of dedicated teachers, administrators and community volunteers and to the cooperation of thousands of students.
